Introduction to Puggle

Puggle Dog Breed, is a mixed breed originated by cross breeding Beagles and Pugs which has become very popular for their physical and psychological traits i.e being cute, friendly, loving and playful. They are known for their friendly and playful attributes which makes them a great family pet.

Puggles are very good in getting along with children and other dogs which is great for most families. Besides from these traits, they can be very stubborn when you are trying to train them, also they may frequently bark in the process of training. Both parental breed, Pug and Beagles are very active in barking so Puggle also has this attribute which can be minimized to some extent with proper training and guide.

History and Origins

Puggle originated in the United States around 1980s through an accidental breeding process between Pug and Beagles. Meanwhile in 1990s first planned cross breeding between Pug and Beagles took place in Oklahoma. Puggles were then appeared world wide in 2002 and became so much popular cross breed in United States, by which it attracted a huge number of celebrity owners.

Because of its physical traits such as cute and compact, In 2005 the Puggle was named the “Hottest Dog of 2005” and the following year in 2006, Their sales recorded for more than 50% than any other cross breed in USA.

Physical Characteristics

Puggles are mixed breed of Pug and Beagles which results in their unique physical attributes and appearance. They are very compact and cute looking breed weighing about 15-30 pounds and 10-12 inches in length. They have very smooth and small coat which can be of any color most commonly found in white, black, tan, red.

Talking about Puggle’s face structure, It mostly has a scrunched-in face while others have a long snout. Their ears are dropped down just like their both parental breed. Since it is a mix breed it can vary drastically upon which parental breed face it takes after.

Temperament and Personality

Puggles are very friendly, loving, playful and affectionate which automatically makes them a great option for a compact companion. Their moderate size suits to any environment and any people of any age group. They are active and always ready to play breed and love to be cuddled by. Playing fetch, walking, running etc are some of their favorite outdoor activities which keeps them healthy, active and also helos them in socializing with people and environment.
